Our commitment

CDKL5 Australia respects your privacy. We collect only the information we need to run this website, and we handle it carefully. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Contact form

When you submit the contact form on our website, we collect:

  • Your name, email address, and message.
  • The category you selected (family, partnership, media, or other).
  • A one-way hash of your IP address, used only to prevent abuse of the form. This hash cannot be used to identify you and is not shared with anyone.

Your message is forwarded to the relevant inbox (hello@ or partnerships@) and stored in our database for audit purposes. We do not use your contact information for marketing.

Newsletter

When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect:

  • Your email address.
  • Optionally, your role (carer, clinician, researcher, or other) and how you found us.

We send a confirmation email to verify your address. Until you confirm, your email is stored but not used.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter email. When you unsubscribe, your email is removed from our mailing list.

We use Resend to send emails. Resend processes your email address on our behalf and does not use it for their own purposes.

IP address hashing

To prevent abuse of our forms, we record a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your IP address. This hash:

  • Cannot be reversed to reveal your actual IP address.
  • Is used only to enforce rate limits (preventing spam submissions).
  • Is automatically deleted after 7 days.

We do not store raw IP addresses.

Photos

Our community gallery displays photos shared by families with their consent. For each photo:

  • We display first names only, never surnames.
  • Consent records are maintained off-site by our secretary, separate from this website.
  • A unique consent reference ID is stored alongside each photo for audit purposes.

Requesting photo removal

If you would like a photo of you or your child removed from the gallery, please contact us:

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not use cookies or track individual visitors. No personal data is collected by our analytics.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other tracking tool.

Third-party services

We use the following services to operate this website:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, DNS, and analytics.
  • Resend — transactional and newsletter email delivery.
  • GitHub — source code hosting (no user data stored).

We do not sell, share, or provide your personal information to any other third party.

Data storage

Form submissions and newsletter signups are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database located at Cloudflare’s edge. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you — email hello@cdkl5australia.com.au.
  • Correct inaccurate information — contact us and we will update it.
  • Delete your data — unsubscribe from the newsletter, or email us to request deletion of contact form records.
  • Request photo removal — see the photos section above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
